In my Shopping Cart

This morning we woke up to a foot of the white stuff outside!

I’m not a huge fan of the snow. I should really live in California or Florida.. but I do like ON Christmas… I’m going to call it a “Snow Day” and hibernate for the day. I don’t have to work today which works out perfect because I am deathly afraid of driving in the snow because I was involved in an accident in the snow a long time ago.. ps. Not my fault.. so I guess you can say I’m not afraid of driving in the snow, I’m afraid of other people driving..

Somebody LOVES it though…

She came down and asked if she could go outside and make a snowman. Maybe later.. 7am snowman making isn’t ideal… how about breakfast?

I made egg mcmuffins, I love maple syrup on my eggs! Reminds me of being a kid! I sprinkled some cinnamon on top and drizzled some maple syrup over them. I added some almonds and raspberries along the side. I also steeped some chai tea and added vanilla stevia and unsweetened vanilla almond milk. SO good!

I got my grocery shopping at Costco done yesterday with the rest of the city…

I knew it was going to snow and didn’t want to have to venture out in the blizzard today.. so I’m glad I geared up and went yesterday!

I think it is fun to see what other people throw in their carts, So I will share mine with you. (Is that weird? Eh. Oh well..)

On my shopping list:

  • Kale Salad- So good. I leave out the dressing that comes with it and just use my own.
  • Butternut squash- I love buying it already cut! It is a time saver for sure!
  • 3 cartons of raspberries- I’m obsessed. Have to eat them all before they disappear…
  • 4 giant gingerbread men - Wait.. what?
  • Egg whites
  • Turkey
  • 2 cartons of Spinach
  • String Cheese
  • Bananas
  • Apples
  • Pomegranate Arils- Also a MAJOR time saver!
  • Red Peppers

I found a new product yesterday, called Cave Man Bars…

They claim they are all natural, gluten free, no peanuts, and are paleo.

Looking at the ingredient list, I am sure that the Paleolithic people could make these bars with all the soy lecithin, evaporated cane syrup and organic chocolate they had available.

Duh.

I think paleo is completely overplayed today. It was a huge fad earlier this year, but now I believe people are starting to think differently about it. I mean, the Paleolithic people in Europe ate completely different from those in North America. The idea of eating paleo just doesn’t make sense. It is a good thought, because I agree whole and natural foods are ideal for a healthy diet, and make your body run better and longer but it is bars like this that claim they are “paleo” just because it has nuts, drive me NUTS.  I’m sure they are delicious, I have heard they are good. But Paleo.. no.

Now, I’m going to decorate some Gingerbread men with the kids! What else do you do on a snow day?

What is one thing you have to ALWAYS buy when you go to the store?

Bananas! My family is a bunch a monkeys and we go through them so fast! I only like them frozen and dipped in Almond Butter.
